Jim Jones, born Joseph Guillermo Jones II on July 15, 1976, in The Bronx, New York, is an American hip hop recording artist best known for being an original member of the hip hop collective The Diplomats, also known as Dipset. He serves as the co-CEO of Diplomat Records alongside fellow rapper Cam'ron. Additionally, Jones is a music video director under the pseudonym CAPO, having directed videos for various artists including Cam'ron, Juelz Santana, Remy Ma, and State Property. Raised in Harlem by his maternal grandmother, Jones has a diverse heritage with his mother hailing from Aruba and his father from Puerto Rico. He attended Catholic school but often skipped church to hang out at the train station. Jones released his solo debut album, On My Way to Church, in 2004. His second album, Harlem: Diary of a Summer, came out in 2005, coinciding with his executive role in A&R at E1 Music. His third album, Hustler's P.O.M.E. (Product of My Environment), released in 2006, featured his biggest hit, "We Fly High," which peaked at number five on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was certified platinum by the RIAA.
