Jim Ransom is an American folk musician from New York who began his musical career in Greenwich Village, performing alongside various artists at the Gaslight Café. In the early 1970s, he moved to Denver, Colorado, where he co-founded a folk and bluegrass label with a fellow New Yorker. He served as the producer and president of the label until selling it in 1979. Following this, he relocated to the Neem Karoli Baba Ashram in Taos, New Mexico, where he became known as Jai Ram Ransom.
