Jimmy Dallas was an American country singer and songwriter born on July 26, 1927, in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. He passed away on September 28, 2004, at the age of 77 in Kansas City, Missouri. Dallas was married to a songwriter and was a prominent figure in the Kansas City music scene starting in the early 1950s. He was a member of Kansas City Missouri's "Cowtown Jubilee," a live stage show similar to the "Brush Creek Follies," though less popular. His first recordings were made in 1955 for a local label, focusing on straight country music. In 1959, he hosted the "Jimmy Dallas Show" on KMBC-TV, featuring guest appearances from other country artists such as The Country Stylers, Cherokee Johnnie, and Mary Bee. Around the same time, he also worked as a DJ on KANS in Kansas City. In 1960, he recorded a promotional 45 for the Decca label. In the following years, he worked in Dallas, Texas, primarily as a DJ but also as a live performer. Throughout the 1970s, he recorded several singles for local labels and released an LP.
