**Jimmy Dell Biography** Real Name: Jimmy Delbridge Born: March 6, 1937, New Lothrop, Michigan, USA Jimmy Dell, an unlikely rock 'n' roll star, faced numerous challenges in his early life, including speech difficulties, poor eyesight, a low self-image, poverty, and the loss of his father at a young age. Music and religion were his guiding forces, though they often conflicted. In 1946, his family moved to Coolidge, Arizona, where he attended Coolidge High School. In 1954, he met Duane Eddy, and together they performed on local radio as Jimmy and Duane. While Jimmy excelled as a singer, Duane was the more skilled guitarist. Under Duane's encouragement, Jimmy transitioned to playing piano. They recorded their first songs in 1955 under the management of disc jockey Lee Hazlewood, although the tracks did not gain significant traction outside their local area. By February 1956, they debuted on The Arizona Hayride, where they made valuable connections in the music industry. Despite his growing involvement in rock 'n' roll, Jimmy struggled with his religious beliefs, leading to a tumultuous partnership with Duane that ended in 1956. Despite this setback, Jimmy continued his musical endeavors, playing piano on some of Duane's tracks and signing with Rev Records in 1957.
