Jimmy Messina is an American singer, guitarist, songwriter, recording engineer, and record producer, born on December 5, 1947, in Maywood, California. He began his career as a recording engineer on Buffalo Springfield's second album and was later asked to produce the band's third album. Messina eventually became their bass player, touring and recording with them until the completion and release of the record. After Buffalo Springfield disbanded, he formed the band Poco with fellow member Richie Furay in 1968 but left two years later. He then partnered with singer/songwriter Kenny Loggins, initially intending to work together on just one album. However, they recorded and performed together for seven years. Since then, Messina has primarily worked as a solo artist, though he is currently touring with Kenny Loggins again.
