Jimmy Riley, born Martin James Norman Riley on May 22, 1954, in Kingston, Jamaica, was a renowned Jamaican singer who began his career as a harmony singer with a producer. He operated the labels and formed a group that achieved significant hits. There is some debate about his membership in the group, but he later joined another band after its disbandment. Following a brief period of success, he decided to go solo and moved to New York. In 1981, he was encouraged to return to Jamaica by Sly & Robbie, with whom he recorded the classic album "Rhydim Driven" and achieved his biggest hit, "Love & Devotion." Throughout the 1980s, he enjoyed numerous hits until the rise of digital ragga diminished the popularity of his vocal anthems. After a short stint in the late 1980s, he relocated to Miami and opened a reggae shop. However, he returned to Jamaica in the 1990s to start his own label and frequently performed on the reggae festival circuit. He was also the father of a notable individual. Jimmy Riley passed away on March 23, 2016, in New York City, U.S.A.
