Jimmy Swan, born James Edgar Schwann on November 18, 1912, in Cullman, Alabama, was a country folk singer who began his career in radio at the Hattiesburg station in the early 1950s. He released his first single in 1952 on Trumpet Records before joining MGM Records in 1953. Throughout his career, he also recorded for Decca in the 1960s, JB Records from 1965 to 1966, and Big Howdy Records in 1968. In addition to his singing career, Swan worked as a disc jockey, first on WFOR in 1954 and later on WBKH in 1956. He passed away on October 29, 1994.
