JJ Barnes was an American R&B/Soul singer and songwriter, born on November 30, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, USA. He was known for his biggest hit, "Baby Please Come Back Home," which reached #9 on the US Billboard R&B chart in 1967. Barnes moved to England in the 1970s on the recommendation of a friend and groupmate, becoming popular in the UK Northern soul scene. He performed frequently in the UK after signing a deal arranged by Starr, who had set up a series of shows for him. Although he never achieved major notoriety again after the 1980s, Barnes continued to perform until the end of his life. He passed away on December 10, 2022.
