J.K. & Co. was a musical group led by Jay Kaye, who was just 15 years old when he formed the band in early 1968. With the help of arranger Robert Buckley, who was also a teenager at the time, producer Robin Spurgin, and various session musicians, the group created their album before officially coming together as a band. To perform the material live, Kaye assembled a lineup that included his cousin John Kaye on bass. Although the LP received some exposure on Californian underground radio stations, it was not well-promoted and remains largely unknown, even among many fans of psychedelic music.
