Jo Armstead, also known by her nickname Joshie Armstead, is a versatile soul singer, label owner, composer, producer, and actress born on October 8, 1944, in Yazoo City, Mississippi. In the early 1960s, she gained recognition as a member of the Revue, being one of the original Ikettes. From 1964 to 1967, she collaborated with a songwriting team, co-writing notable songs such as "I Don't Need No Doctor." In 1967, she founded a company known as Giant Productions with her husband, where they produced and leased records to larger firms while also releasing music under their own labels. Their production team achieved significant success with various artists, particularly in collaborations with other labels. Jo is also the mother of one child.
