Jo Boxers is a London-based band led by American expat Dig Wayne, alongside members Rob Marche (guitar), Dave Collard (keyboards), Chris Bostock (bass), and Sean McLusky (drums). The group initially performed together in Soho clubs before disbanding in 1982. However, they kept in touch with Wayne and reformed as a quintet, adopting the name Jo Boxers and moving to Ronnie Scott’s. In early 1983, they achieved chart success with their debut single, which reached #3 on the British charts in April. Their Northern soul-infused follow-up also hit #3, and their debut album reached the UK Top 20. Unfortunately, subsequent releases did not live up to this early promise, leading to the band's breakup after three years.
