Jo Jo Bennet was a Jamaican/Canadian trumpet and flugelhorn player, composer, and arranger, born on July 13, 1940, in Kingston, Jamaica. He passed away on August 3, 2021, in Toronto, Ontario. A graduate of the [institution not specified] in Kingston, he initially began his musical journey playing the drums before becoming the lead trumpeter with [group not specified]. He later joined [group not specified], recording several albums with them before deciding to stay in Canada after their performance at Expo 67. In 1970, he returned to Jamaica and released his first and only album, "Groovey Joe," while also performing live and doing studio work for various record companies. He returned to Canada in the late 1970s and registered his own music label. In the early 1980s, he co-founded The Sattalites Music School with [person not specified] and shortly after formed a band.
