Joan Baez is an American singer-songwriter and activist, born on January 9, 1941, in Staten Island, New York, USA. She is renowned for her soprano voice, three-octave range, and distinct, rapid vibrato. Originally a folk singer, Baez's music has evolved since the 1960s to include elements of rock, pop, country, and gospel. She played a significant role in helping other artists gain greater career success in their early performing days. Baez was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 7, 2017. She has a daughter and a son, and she had a romantic relationship in the mid-1960s. Baez was married from March 26, 1968, until their divorce on February 15, 1974. She has siblings, including a younger sister and an older sister, who is also a folk musician.
