João Gilberto was a Brazilian singer/songwriter, guitarist, artist, and producer, born on June 10, 1931, in Juazeiro, Bahia, Brazil. He passed away on July 6, 2019, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at the age of 88. Gilberto is renowned for creating a blend of American jazz and Brazilian samba, which became known as "bossa nova."
