Jobriath, born on December 14, 1946, in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, was an openly gay glam rocker, artist, and actor. In the late 1960s, he was a member of a psychedelic folk rock band. He began his solo career in the early 1970s under the name Jobriath. After retiring from the music industry in the mid-1970s, he worked as an actor and cabaret singer, adopting the name Cole Berlin. Jobriath passed away on August 3, 1983, from complications related to AIDS in his rooftop apartment at the Hotel Chelsea in Manhattan.
