Joe “Jody” Parsley, born and raised in Springfield, Ohio, is a lesser-known figure in the realm of soul and funk 45s. In 1974, he recorded his only 45rpm single, "Soul Streak" b/w "Hooked," at the renowned Mus-I-Col studios in Columbus, Ohio, under the name Jody & the Individuals. This name was chosen because the musicians who joined him for the session were friends rather than a formal band. Parsley was known for his passion for songwriting and music, often gathering with friends to play in his basement. Many of Springfield's top musicians would come together at his place to jam and enjoy music. Following the Mus-I-Col session, he recorded several more songs, although these tracks were never released.
