Joe Henderson was an influential American jazz saxophonist and composer, known for his work in the hard bop and post-bop genres. Born on April 24, 1937, in Lima, Ohio, he gained prominence in the 1960s and collaborated with notable musicians such as Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner, and Miles Davis. Henderson's distinctive sound and innovative approach to improvisation made him a significant figure in jazz. He released numerous albums as a bandleader and is celebrated for his compositions, including "Inner Urge" and "A Shade of Jade." Henderson continued to perform and record until his passing on June 30, 2001.
