Joe Meek was an English record producer, recording engineer, and songwriter, born on April 5, 1929, in Newent, Gloucestershire. He is best known for his biggest hit in 1962. Meek is recognized as the UK’s first independent pop record producer and was a co-owner of a notable entity in the music industry. Tragically, he died by murder-suicide on February 3, 1967, in London, after killing his landlady and then himself.
