Joe South was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist born on February 28, 1940, in Atlanta, Georgia. He gained recognition for his songwriting, winning the Grammy for Song of the Year in 1970 for "Games People Play." South was also nominated for the same award in 1972 for "Rose Garden." He passed away on September 5, 2012, in Buford, Georgia.
