Joey Castle, born Joseph Fohn Castaldo on June 24, 1942, in the Bronx, New York, was a rockabilly singer and guitarist. He grew up in a musical family, inspired by the rise of rock & roll, and by the age of 15, he secured a contract with RCA. His debut single, "Come a Little Bit Close Baby" b/w "That Ain't Nothing But Right," failed to chart, leading to his departure from the label. Castle then recorded the rockabilly track "Rock 'N Roll Daddy-O" for Headline, which became a sought-after collector's item despite not selling well. In 1963, he recorded a single under the name Cliff Rivers, "Marsha" b/w "True Lips," on Sid Prosen's Thanks label, which paid homage to Elvis Presley. Although it was his best-selling record, it only sold a few thousand copies, primarily in England. Throughout his career, Castle focused on recording demos and performing locally, maintaining his rock & roll roots. He re-emerged in the 1970s with a rock & roll/variety act and released an album, enjoying a local following. Joey Castle passed away from brain cancer on December 15, 1978, less than 18 months after Elvis Presley's death.
