Joey Pastrana, also known as Joseph Louis Pastrana, was a prominent Latin timbales and congas player and band leader born on August 22, 1942, in Santurce, Puerto Rico. He moved to New York at the age of four and became a significant figure in the Latin soul and Boogaloo scene during the late 1960s, recording several LPs for Cotique. His later works leaned more towards Latin Jazz. Pastrana passed away on February 2, 2014.
