Johannes Schmölling, also known as Schmoelling, was born in Lohne (Oldenburg), Germany in 1950. He obtained a degree in sound engineering in 1978 and began his musical career with the band Tangerine Dream, where he was active from 1979 to 1985. Since 1986, he has worked successfully as a solo artist and composer for theatre and television. In 2011, he formed a new three-member band, continuing in the tradition of his earlier work.
