John Cooper Clarke is an English performance poet born on January 25, 1949, in Salford, Greater Manchester. Known as the "punk poet," he gained prominence for his energetic performances during the late 1970s punk scene. Between 1977 and 1982, Clarke released half a dozen albums and various singles, often accompanied by the music of the Invisible Girls.
