John Fox is a musician born on September 26, 1948, in Chorley, Lancashire, England. He grew up in a working-class family, with his father being a coal miner and pugilist, and his mother a millworker. In his youth, he identified as both a mod and a hippie, developing interests in album covers, Pink Floyd's experimentalism, futurism, and surrealism. His musical journey began with his first band, and in 1973, he found himself in Manchester, performing with a 12-string guitar while supporting other acts. He later moved to London, where he attended the Royal College of Art on a scholarship. Throughout his career, Fox experimented with various musical genres, including glam, reggae, synth pop, and industrial, influenced by notable artists. He was a member of the band Ultravox until 1979, after which he pursued a solo career. His debut solo album, "Metamatic," was released in 1980, showcasing an electronic style based on synthesizers. He released three more solo albums before taking a break from music in 1985 to focus on visual work. In 1990, inspired by acid house, Fox briefly returned to music as a collaborator, working with various artists, including those from Streets Ahead. After a period of silence, a chance meeting in 1997 led to a series of duo albums from 1997 to 2008 and marked a new phase in Fox's solo
