John Hammond was an American record producer, promoter, talent scout, writer, music critic, and civil rights activist, born on December 15, 1910, in New York City, NY, USA. He passed away on July 10, 1987, in New York City, NY, USA. Hammond is known for discovering numerous influential artists and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for Lifetime Achievement in 1986. Please do not confuse him with his son, the blues musician.
