John Kongos is a songwriter, musician, and engineer born in 1945 in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is best known for his hits "He's Gonna Step On You Again" and "Tokoloshe Man." Since the 1970s, Kongos has sold over 25 million copies as a songwriter and/or artist, achieving various Number One and Top Ten hits in countries including England, France, Germany, Australia, and South Africa. In addition to his musical achievements, he has written numerous jingles and TV and film themes, including those for "The Greek Tycoon," "Cat's Eyes," "Fraggle Rock" (Traveling Matt), "London Program," and "Sunday Sunday." Kongos operated his own home studios in London from 1971 to 1988 before relocating to Phoenix, Arizona, where he began working with his four sons.
