John Legend, born on December 28, 1978, in Springfield, Ohio, is a multi-talented musician who later moved to Philadelphia to attend the University of Pennsylvania. Before pursuing a full-time career in music, he served as the music and choir director for nine years at Bethel A.M.E. Church in the Philadelphia area. Influenced by classic soul and gospel legends, John developed his own unique style and learned to play the piano at an early age. He made appearances on numerous R&B and Hip-Hop records, collaborating with artists such as Eve, Jay-Z, and others. John began performing more frequently in 2000, gaining attention in the music industry after meeting a rising star from Chicago. His debut album, "Get Lifted," was released in the U.S. on December 28, 2004, under Sony Urban, featuring production from Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas, along with his long-time collaborators Dave Tozer and Devo Harris, and Kanye West, who produced his debut single, "Used To Love U."
