John Winston Ono Lennon (MBE) was an English singer, songwriter, and peace activist, born on October 9, 1940, in Liverpool, Lancashire, UK. He is best known as the founder, co-lead vocalist, and rhythm guitarist of the Beatles, a band that gained worldwide fame during the 1960s and 1970s. Lennon was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1987 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 as a performer. Lennon began his musical journey in the skiffle craze as a teenager and formed his first band in 1956, which evolved into the Beatles in 1960. He was initially the group's de facto leader, a role he gradually ceded to Paul McCartney. Known for his rebellious nature and acerbic wit, Lennon expressed his creativity through music, writing, drawings, film, and interviews. He married his first wife, Cynthia Lennon, on August 23, 1962, and they had a son, Julian Lennon, born on April 8, 1963. In the mid-1960s, Lennon published two books, "In His Own Write" and "A Spaniard in the Works," which featured nonsensical writings and line drawings. His songs, starting with "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" in 1967, became anthems for the anti-war movement and the larger counterculture. From
