John Makin was an English-born folk and blues singer and guitarist, born on February 13, 1950, in Warrington. He passed away on October 23, 2011, in Brussels. In 1972, he relocated to Brussels, where he quickly became involved in the expat music scene, performing folk and blues music. His first original songs were recorded on the album "Urban Romance" in 1976. In 1980, he founded an independent label and released his first single, "Anglais Franglais," through Polygram. He followed this with a live album, "Live at the Planet," in 1985, featuring more original songs. Throughout his career, Makin performed both solo and with various bands, occasionally touring the UK and Germany on the folk circuit, collaborating with notable folk acts.
