John Surman is an English jazz musician known for his proficiency on baritone and soprano saxophones, alto saxophone, contra-bass clarinet, bass clarinet, recorders, piano, and synthesizer. Born on August 30, 1944, in Tavistock, Devon, he is also a composer. Surman won the Spellemannprisen (Norwegian Grammy) for Best Jazz Album in 2013 with his work "Songs About This And That."
