Johnnie Frierson was a Memphis-born soul musician and songwriter whose work emerged from the same fertile scene that produced Stax Records’ finest. A former member of the gospel-soul group The Drapels—alongside his sister, Wendy Rene—Frierson crafted tender, spiritual songs that explored love, hardship, and faith. After years away from the spotlight, his home-recorded 1990s cassette *Have You Been Good to Yourself* was rediscovered and reissued by Light in the Attic Records, earning posthumous acclaim for its raw honesty and deeply human optimism.
