Formed in Memphis in 1952 by brothers Johnny and Dorsey Burnette with guitarist Paul Burlison, the Johnny Burnette Trio were pioneers of the raw, high‑energy style that came to define early rockabilly. Emerging from the same vibrant scene that produced icons like Elvis Presley and Carl Perkins, the group infused blues, country, and rhythm and blues influences into a sound that was both rebellious and infectious. Their recordings for Coral Records—especially “Train Kept A-Rollin’”—cemented their legacy as trailblazers whose fiery spirit helped shape the birth of rock ’n’ roll.
