Johnny Adams was an American singer known for his contributions to R&B, jazz, blues, and gospel. Born on January 5, 1932, in New Orleans, Louisiana, he earned the nickname "The Tan Canary" due to his multi-octave vocal range, distinctive singing style, and impressive falsetto. Adams achieved significant success in the late 1960s with his popular renditions of "Release Me" and "Reconsider Me." He passed away on September 14, 1998, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the age of 66.
