Johnny Bristol was an American soul singer, songwriter, and producer born on February 3, 1939, in Morganton, North Carolina. He passed away on March 21, 2004, in Howell, Brighton Township, Michigan. Bristol worked from 1959 to 1972 with top-selling acts and recorded some singles in the early 1960s as a duo. He later collaborated with other artists and launched his solo career in 1974 with the hit "Hang On In There Baby." His last charting single was "My Girl / My Guy," a duet released in 1980.
