Johnny Daye was an American soul singer born on March 17, 1948, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He passed away on May 6, 2017, in his hometown. Daye had previously recorded for various labels, where he enjoyed minor success with the single "Marry Me," before being brought to a new record label by a notable figure in the industry. A producer-songwriter praised Daye, stating, "The kid was dynamite. Otis really wanted to do a lot with him. Had Otis lived he probably would have." Daye released two singles, "What'll I Do For Satisfaction" and "Stay Baby Stay," the latter of which is regarded as a classic among soul enthusiasts.
