Johnny Dorelli, born Giorgio Guidi on February 20, 1937, in Meda, Italy, is a renowned actor, singer, and showman. He is the son of a singer and the father of a singer as well. Dorelli began his music career in the late 1950s with the CGD label and achieved significant recognition by winning the Sanremo Festival in 1958, performing in a duo with another artist. His notable songs include "Nel blu dipinto di blu" (also known as "Volare") and "Piove (Ciao ciao bambina)." In the 1967 Sanremo Song Festival, his song "L'immensità" earned him a ninth-place finish. Dorelli's most significant success came from the musical "Aggiungi un posto a tavola," which was later adapted for London's West End as "Beyond the Rainbow" in 1978. After a period of lesser visibility, he made a successful return in the 1980s, playing St. Philip Neri in the 1983 TV film "State buoni se potete." His most recent feature film role was in "Ma quando arrivano le ragazze" in 2004. Dorelli has been married to actresses Lauretta Masiero and others, and he is currently married to Gloria Guida, a former actress.
