Johnny Hallyday was a French singer, songwriter, performer, and actor, born on June 15, 1943, in Paris. He passed away on December 5, 2017, in Marnes-la-Coquette, Île-de-France. Hallyday was married to a French singer from April 12, 1965, until November 4, 1980. He was a father and achieved significant success in his career, selling over 100 million records by November 2011. His accolades include 40 gold records, 22 platinum records, 3 diamond records, and 8 Victoires de la Musique, which is the French equivalent of the Grammy. Throughout his career, he attracted 28 million spectators to his concerts during more than 100 tours in France and Europe. However, his international career did not achieve the same level of recognition, remaining largely unknown outside the French-speaking world. Hallyday recorded approximately 1,000 songs, including over a hundred self-penned titles and around 250 French adaptations of original songs in English, particularly drawing inspiration from his American idols during the early 1960s.
