Johnny Ventura, born on March 8, 1940, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, was a renowned singer and band leader known for his contributions to merengue and salsa music. He passed away on July 28, 2021, in Santiago de los Caballeros. In addition to his musical career, Ventura served as the vice mayor of Santo Domingo from 1994 to 1998 and as the mayor from 1998 to 2002. He was affectionately known as "El Caballo Johnny Ventura."
