Johnny Wells was a jazz drummer born around 1905 in Kentucky. He passed away on November 25, 1965, in New York. Wells began his career performing as a singer, comedian, and dancer at the Apex Club in Chicago. He later joined a band as a drummer, making several recordings with them. Continuing to work with Noone into the 1930s, he eventually moved to New York, where he played and recorded from 1939 to 1940.
