Jon Wayne was a cowpunk and alt-country band that emerged in Los Angeles during the 1980s, consisting of pseudonymous session musicians. The band released two albums, with Jon Wayne being the stage name for David Vaught, who also recorded under this name on at least one other occasion. They gained some recognition through their appearance in the 1986 performing art documentary D.U.I, which showcased part of their live show in L.A. around 1984. The band continued to perform live sporadically throughout the 1990s and 2000s. Their song "Texas Funeral" was featured in Robert Rodriguez's film "From Dusk Till Dawn," while "I've Got Texas" appeared in the movie "American Strays." The album "Texas Funeral" was originally issued in 1985 and saw a reissue in 1992 with a slightly different edited and mixed version. In 2010, this version was reissued by Third Man Records, a label owned by Jack White of The White Stripes. The band members included Jon Wayne (David Vaught) on guitar and vocals, Jimbo (Jim Goodall) on drums, Earnest Beauvine (Doug Livingston) on lead guitar, and Billy Bob (Rodney Crowell) on bass, with Timmy Turlock (Tommy Spurlock) replacing Billy Bob on bass as of September 9, 1991. David Vaught passed away on March 13, 2013
