Jonah And The Whales was a nationally recognized German beat band that gained popularity in the mid-1960s. By around 1968, they evolved into one of the first German rock bands to perform in the German language. The band's lineup included Sonny Hennig on vocals and piano, Günter Gast on bass, Wolfram Stumm on first guitar, Ernst Schultz on second guitar, and Roland Multhaupt on drums. The group was financed by the son of entrepreneur Hansheinz Porst.
