Jonzun Crew was formed by Michael and Soni Johnson in Boston, along with Steve Thorpe and Gordy Worthy. Hailing from Florida, the group blended electrofunk and rock beats with comic and novelty lyrics. They gained popularity with hits such as "Pack Jam (Look out for the OVC)" and "We Are The Jonzun Crew" in 1982 and 1983. In 1986, Michael Jonzun left the group to pursue a solo career, although he only released one album under A&M. He is also known for discovering New Edition and writing and producing their hit "Candy Girl."
