**Bio: Jorga Mesfin** Born in November 1977, Jorga Mesfin is a talented musician whose early life was steeped in the rich sounds of jazz. Growing up surrounded by records from legends like John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, Kassa Tessema, Dr. Mulatu Astatke, and Jimmy Smith, he developed a deep connection to Ethio Jazz, with Dr. Astatke as his primary inspiration. Jorga's passion for the saxophone was influenced by the works of Coltrane and Getachew Mekuria, while Emahoy Tsege Mariam's piano style enriched his musical understanding. His musical journey began with childhood improvisations on a table, leading to formal piano lessons at Yared Music School at the age of 12. Due to the lack of available saxophones in Ethiopia, he waited until moving to India for education at 14 to acquire his first saxophone. Jorga's love for the instrument continued through his college years while pursuing a BA in Chemistry at Guilford College and a Master's at Emory University. In 2006, he transitioned to a full-time musician after initially working with the Ministry of Health. Jorga's professional music career began with the Latin jazz ensemble Cojunto Sareunge in North Carolina.
