Jorge Bezerra, Jr. is a Brazilian percussionist born in Rio de Janeiro in 1978. He began his musical journey with Candomblé's drums in Afro-Brazilian religious ceremonies. His first professional gig was in 1993 with the Afro-music band "Lemy Ayo," where he served as the artistic director. In 1995, he arranged and led the Afro-Cuban band "Orunmila." Jorge moved to Paris in 1998, where he focused on playing various types of drums, particularly Afro-Cuban religious drums like batas and candomblé atabaques. Throughout his career, Jorge has participated in numerous world tours with notable world music artists such as Tupinago, Bebel Gilberto, St. Germain, and Ben Sidran. He has traveled to 40 countries and performed in over 100 live concerts. In 2004, he gained recognition as the most acclaimed musician at the Baku Jazz Festival in Azerbaijan, where he won first prize. Jorge began to make a name for himself with the Joe Zawinul Syndicate, sharing the stage with renowned musicians like Herbie Hancock, Monty Alexander, Idrissa Diop, and Carlinhos Brown.
