José Benito Barros Palomino, known as Jose Barros, was a renowned Colombian composer born on March 21, 1915. He passed away on May 12, 2007. Over his lifetime, he wrote more than 800 songs across various styles, including cumbia, merengue, porro, and boleros. Among his most famous works is the cumbia "La Piragua."
