José James is an American baritone jazz singer from New York City, born on January 20, 1978, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is of Irish and Panamanian descent and gained significant success after being signed by a DJ to an independent label in the late 2000s. James has also collaborated with various artists, contributing to albums by an Italian musician and producer in 2008 and 2014, as well as on albums released in 2008 and 2017.
