Joseph Kamaru was a renowned Kenyan Benga and gospel musician, as well as a political activist. He was celebrated as an icon and a hero in the Kikuyu music scene. Born in 1939 in Kangema, British Kenya, he passed away on 3 October 2018 in Nairobi, Kenya, at the age of 79.
