Joya Landis was an American singer born on October 26, 1936, in Mound City, Kansas. She passed away on April 23, 2013, in Lawrence, Kansas, at the age of 76. Landis recorded a 7" record for a New York label before gaining attention from a Jamaican producer, which led to her recording several songs during her time in the West Indies. She is best known for her successful Jamaican recordings, including "Kansas City," "Moonlight Lover," and "Angel Of The Morning." After returning to the United States, she chose to focus on her family and did not return to the music studio.
