Joyce Kennedy is an American vocalist and percussionist, born in 1948 in Anguilla, Mississippi, USA. After the death of her grandfather when she was seven, she moved to Chicago with her mother, where she began her singing career. In 1963, Joyce released her first single. She later met her partner, and they started to perform together as a duo, eventually getting married. Together, they formed what is considered to be the original black rock band.
