Juan Blanco (1919, Mariel, Cuba - 2008, Havana, Cuba) was a prolific composer and teacher, recognized as a pioneering force in the development of electroacoustic music in Cuba. In 1964, he organized the first public concert featuring electroacoustic music at the "Unión Nacional de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba." Throughout his career, Blanco composed approximately 100 pieces utilizing electroacoustic systems, and he was known for his work with spatial distribution of sound in large open spaces, as well as for creating complex multimedia installations and spectacles. His son is also a composer. Blanco's discography with EGREM includes "Contemporaneas 4" (LD 3809, 1979), "Música electroacústica" (LD 4211, 1984?), and "Música electroacústica" (LD 4424, 1987), along with an additional work titled "Música por computadores."
